http://laidoffcampmiami.org/speakers

We will send out a draft schedule on Friday to those who have given us your presentation info. Any available slots can also be chosen on Saturday morning but please don’t wait.

Some have submitted 2 presentations. We hope that you will have an opportunity to present twice, however we will give first preference to anyone who has not had a chance to present at all. At 11:00am we will open up any available slots for 2nd presentations if you have any.

Projectors and Screens
We need 2 more projectors and 2 more screens.  Please reply to this email if you can donate the use of a projector and/or screen.

Elevator Pitches
One interesting thing we will be doing at the event is making a video of any attendee who wants to record a 60-second “elevator pitch.”  This is basically a quick introduction about yourself if you are looking for a job or have an idea for a new business. So, prepare for you 60-second pitch and you can get recorded at the event. We’ll upload the videos after the event for all to see.

Twitter and Social Media
Let’s use the hash tag #locmia (since it’s short) and “locmia” for any other tagging you will do on blogs, flickr, etc.

What is LaidOff Camp Miami?

On Saturday, June 6, 2009 a host of job-seekers, freelancers, entrepreneurs and startups will attend South Florida’s first community-driven conference for creative employment: LaidOff Camp Miami (with Freelance Camp!).

Who is Invited?

Anyone who wants to get creative ideas and inspiration for getting a job or starting your own business is welcome. You do not have to be unemployed to attend the event. But if during these challenging economic times you have lost your job or are looking for better work then this would be an excellent opportunity to meet people who might be able to help you in your quest.

Why is it Called a Camp?

Our event is a community-driven conference in the style of BarCamp. “Camp” implies that the event is informal with an emphasis on face-to-face interaction with other attendees. “Community-driven” means that the attendees of the conference actually run the conference by discussing topics appropriate to the subject of the event. The presentation schedule is determined on the morning of the conference and anyone is welcome to present.

It's FREE!

Thank to our sponsors, attendance and breakfast are absolutely FREE!  We will be selling tickets for a catered lunch soon.
